Our mission

Seek the Lost

“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'” Matthew 9:35-38
As Jesus is out and about teaching the Word and healing people, he recognizes the immense need of the people to hear the good news. His compassion is not for their physical state, but for their spiritual state. Jesus can see the state of their heart, and what he saw was a lost and dying world in desperate need of saving! In order for us to be obedient, we must get out into the field with the lost people and seek them out! THEN once they meet Jesus, we can bring them “back to the barn” to refine them. This is why Jesus was emphasizing the urgency for workers to go into the field. The fields are white for harvest! Pray that God (the farmer) sends more workers (us)!

Disciple the Saved

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:1-2
Once the harvest is collected, the job has just begun. The wheat is then taken into the barn to the threshing floor. This is where the farmers would separate the grain from the stems, making them usable. In the same way, while evangelism is imperative, our world is in desperate need for the Gospel to be shared and people to come to faith in Christ, we cannot stop there. Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” The job continues past salvation. Discipleship must take place in order to be obedient.

Worship the Lord

“Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.” Psalm 66:1–4.
Worship is a response to God’s provision, promise, and presence. God provides for us every single day. The breath we breathe. The food we eat. The water we drink. All of these are basic provisions from the Lord. The family we have. The church we have. The lives we live are filled with God’s blessings and provisions. So our natural response should be to seek to worship him. As Christians, we hold to God’s promises to us in order to make it through this life. Day in and day out, we are challenged with all sorts of trials and temptations. God has promised us that we will make it through to the other side! As we experience the presence of God, we should be so overwhelmed with awe that we can’t help but worship in whatever way comes out.

Tell the World

“For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”‌How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:13-17
“An unreached or least-reached people is a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group without outside assistance.” There are currently 7,391unreached people groups across the world. Those people groups consist of3,395,044,000 souls. That is 3.4 billion individuals who have no access to the Gospel. So they have not heard that Jesus came and died for their sins. The country with the largest population of unreached peoples is India with 1,352,887,000 unreached souls. There are 9 countries with 90% or greater of their population categorized as unreached. Here in the US, we still have 97 unreached people groups consisting of 14,392,000 souls. The need for Christians to participate and contribute to local and global missions is dire.
Journey Church is committed to becoming a sending powerhouse for the Lord.
